Things to do in Bude

To many it is most famous as the setting for Daphne Du Mauriers brooding novel 'Jamaica Inn', and yet Bodmin Moor beholds far more mysteries than those within the pages of a book.

From King Arthur to Black Beasts, it has a rich heritage of myths, legends, tales and tall tales. Bodmin Moor was first farmed over 4000 years ago, and still today you can walk amongst remnants of Bronze Age farms and settlements.

Walking boots and sensible clothing recommended, and although it's generally perfectly safe, it's a smart move to let someone know where you're going and what time you plan to return - the fog descends quick in these here hills...
